For Sellers

There are various preventive measures that can be used by sellers. By following below mentioned tips, you can avoid scams that may happen to you.

You must describe the product in details along with the photos (if any). However, be genuine about the description and never provide any false information about the items to lure buyers.

For contact information, you must provide contact details such as your Gmail, Yahoo or any email address which does not display your personal information. If you want to give contact number; you must give out mobile number instead of home phone number.

You must avoid selling your products to people who do not belong to your local area.  If the buyer wants to meet you in person, then avoid going to places where less people visit.

For payment, insist on paying cash. Do not accept payment made through personal checks, Money Gram, Western Union and PayPal.

If the amount of payment is big, you must accept cashier’s check. Also, ask buyer to go to the bank with you for verifying the authenticity of the bank. As these checks can easily be forged.

You must not share your personal information such as bank account number, social security number and credit card information with anyone.

After the successful purchase, you must provide the receipt of acceptance of the products or items to document that the item has been received by the buyer. Both parties must have receipt to avoid any conflict later on.
